The Ministry of Health Library provides a comprehensive information service to the Minister of Health and Ministry staff in support of this role.
The Ministry Library is open to members of the public who are researching health-related issues. Material cannot be borrowed directly from our collection, but you can contact your local library to arrange inter-library loan (an interloan). A photocopier is available (copyright and charges apply).
The Library and Information Centre is situated in the Basement of 133 Molesworth Street, Thorndon, Wellington. All books, current journals, and new items are displayed here.
The CollectionThe Library holds approximately 15,000 books, and subscribes to around 380 journals. The Library’s collection focuses on health planning, policy, funding, disability and mental health services, public and personal health, and international trends in health care. The collection is the most comprehensive of its type in New Zealand.
