An Indication of New Zealanders' Health 2004 is an essential element in monitoring population health in New Zealand by providing an overview of the current situation through a set of key indicators.

The report is based on data extracted from a variety of national sources. The information is presented on changes in the measures selected over time and ethnic and sex differences as well as differences by deprivation level and District Health Board.

The publication is intended as a tool for policy-makers, researchers and decision-makers who can use it as a one-stop-shop of information of a variety of issues affecting the health of New Zealanders. The report also provides valuable baseline information against which to measure progress in implementing the New Zealand Health Strategy and New Zealand Disability Strategy.
