The Perinatal and Maternal Mortality Review Committee is a ministerial committee appointed under sections 11 and 18 of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000.

Functions
The functions of the Committee are to:

review and report to the Minister (or other specified committees) on perinatal and maternal deaths , with a view to reducing the numbers of perinatal and maternal deaths, and to continuous quality improvement through the promotion of quality assurance programmes
advise on any other matters related to perinatal and maternal mortality that the Minister specifies in any further notice to the Committee
develop strategic plans and methodologies that are designed to reduce morbidity and mortality and that are relevant to the Committee’s functions.
