Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd (ESR)

ESR has an antibiotic reference laboratory, responsible for the national surveillance of antimicrobial resistance among human pathogens. The ESR website contains reports on antimicrobial resistance.

New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA)

NZFSA is the New Zealand controlling authority for food safety, including domestic food and imports and exports of food and food related products. The NZFSA’s Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines (ACVM) Group regulates antibiotics used in animals and places controls on these to manage antibiotic resistance. The website contains reports regarding the regulation of the use of antibiotics in food animals, and reports detailing the quantities of antibiotics used in animals.

Pharmac's "Wise Use of Antibiotics" campaign

Wise Use of Antibiotics is an annual campaign, co-ordinated by PHARMAC. Its primary aim is to raise awareness that antibiotics are not a cure-all for winter colds and flu, and that overuse can lead to antibiotic resistance. The campaign is supported by Independent Practitioners Associations, RNZCGP, The Pharmaceutical Society and Plunket.
