The Child and Youth Mortality Review Committee is a ministerial committee appointed under section 18 of the New Zealand Health and Disability Act 2000.

Functions
The functions of the Committee are to:

review and report to the Minister on deaths of people aged between 4 weeks and 24 years, with a view to reducing the numbers of deaths of this group, and to continuous quality improvement through the promotion of ongoing quality assurance programmes
advise on any other matters related to mortality that the Minister from time to time specifies in any further notice to the committee.
