Child and Youth Mortality Review Committee

The Child and Youth Mortality Review Committee is a ministerial committee appointed under section 18 of the New Zealand Health and Disability Act 2000.

Functions
The functions of the Committee are to:
  • review and report to the Minister on deaths of people aged between 4 weeks and 24 years, with a view to reducing the numbers of deaths of this group, and to continuous quality improvement through the promotion of ongoing quality assurance programmes
  • advise on any other matters related to mortality that the Minister from time to time specifies in any further notice to the committee.
