Disability Workforce Analysis Report
Clinical Training Agency
Date of publication: February 2003
Lack of workforce information is currently hindering the progress of disability workforce development in New Zealand. The Health Workforce Advisory Committee’s recent
stocktake report on the New Zealand Health Workforce (HWAC, 2002)
, noted the lack of robust data on disability workforce needs.
The Clinical Training Agency (CTA), in collaboration with the Disability Services Directorate (both part of the Ministry of Health) recently undertook an analysis of disability workforce issues in New Zealand, to inform policy and planning by the CTA, and to assist any future workforce development planning.
The focus of the project was predominantly on training needs. The project was time-limited and the subject was vast.
What follows is therefore necessarily a first step towards developing an understanding of the issues, and a basis from which further much needed work can proceed.
