The National Health Emergency Plan: Infectious Diseases
This plan for infectious diseases is directed at diseases that are typically high-impact and rapidly progressive, and that have the potential to create a national health-related emergency. The plan does not address infectious diseases exhibiting a slower rate of spread, such as meningococcal disease, antibiotic-resistant organisms in New Zealand hospitals or HIV/AIDS.

The National Health Emergency Plan: Infectious Diseases incorporates and replaces the earlier New Zealand
Influenza Pandemic Action Plan (IPAP).

Influenza Pandemic Action Plan
Influenza pandemics have the potential to cause widespread illness, death and disruption. While it is not possible to predict when the next influenza pandemic will occur, advance planning can assist in reducing the impact of future events.

The Influenza Pandemic Action Plan provides a framework for preparation and response by the health sector.
