New Zealand consumers wanting to be fully informed about their health issues can now access the same source of evidence-based information as doctors.
Everyone browsing the web from within New Zealand can gain free access to the www.besttreatments.net site which contains easy-to-understand information about 180 conditions - everything from acid reflux, glue ear and high blood pressure, through to multiple sclerosis, ovarian cancer and stroke.
The site is run by the British Medical Journal, using information from widely accepted worldwide research and approved by doctors who are specialists in the field.
It describes:

treatments that are likely to work
harms and benefits
treatments that are unlikely to work or may be harmful
information on tests and operations.
