Summary
The Minister of Health has approved the new Section 88 Primary Maternity Services Notice 2007. It is intended that the new Notice will be implemented 1 July 2007.
The Primary Maternity Services Notice 2007 was the culmination of part two of a two part review. Part one of the review concerned a price adjustment, with new prices effective from 16 December 2005. Part two of the review focused on amending some service specifications, enhancing quality requirements for maternity services, and improving claiming processes. Some prices also changed as a result of service specification changes.
On 1 February 2007 the Minister of Health announced a further 9.2% increase in funding for primary maternity services provided under the Notice. Most of the fees for Lead Maternity Carers (LMCs) and non-LMCs (except specialists) have been increased, including fees that were increased in December 2005. The increase is expected to be effective from 1 July 2007.
