Healthy Eating series


Eating for Healthy Adult New Zealanders / Nga kai totika ma te hunga pakeke o Aotearoa
This 10-page booklet gives information about the variety of food available for healthy and fun eating, including foods from the different cultures in the NZ population. Serving size samples are given, as well as contacts for further information.

Eating for Healthy Babies and Toddlers
This 14-page illustrated booklet gives food information for children from birth to two years old, covering breastfeeding, formula feeding, fluid intake, solids, variety, and meal ideas.

Eating for Healthy Breastfeeding women / Nga kai totika ma te ukaipo
Food advice for breastfeeding women is given in this 12-page booklet, with serving size samples, food and drink suggestions, and information about allergies, colic, supplements and reflux - and about taking time for yourself, as well as contacts for further information.

Eating for Healthy Children aged 2 to 12
A new resource replacing code 4379 with information on food and nutrition requirements for children with ideas for treats, snacks, drinks, etc.

Eating for Healthy Teenagers
A 16 page booklet to help young people and their caregivers identify teenage nutrition needs. The vibrant colours, photos of cheerful casually-dressed young people and clear messages make this nutrition guidance information accessible and exciting.

Eating Well for Healthy Older People
This 12-page booklet of nutrition guidelines for healthy older adults gives serving examples, activity and fluid intake advice, and food safety advice, as well as answering common questions.

Eating for Healthy Vegetarians / Nga kai totika ma te hunga puku-huawhenua
This 6-page booklet gives wise food choices for those choosing not to eat meat or fish. Nutrients are discussed and recommended serving sizes given, including for children.

Eating For Healthy Pregnant Women/Nga kai totika ma te wahine hapu
This 14-page booklet of food advice for pregnant women gives serving size examples, and emphasises the importance of healthy eating for pregnant women. Cravings, fluids, folic acid, listeria and healthy food choices are all covered, along with contacts for further information.

Everyday Eating for Health
This pamphlet has been developed especially for adults with low literacy. The basic nutrition messages are in simple text and well illustrated with colourful photographs. A low key activity message is included to encourage the link between healthy eating and leading an active life for good health.

Oranga Kai - Healthy Eating for Adult Maori
This booklet, written by Maori nutritionists with quotations by well known Maori, gives examples of serving sizes and easy ways to make everyday food more healthy. Also lists ideas and tips for a more active lifestyle.

Life's a Game of Two Halves
This poster, which complements the Hillary Commission 'Push Play' programme and Agencies for Nutrition Action 'Fitfood Challenge', uses rugby analogies to encourage men (primarily 25-50) to eat better and be more active.

Servings per Day
This poster has the sub-title 'How much do we need'? The illustrations are intended to show realistically and using very ordinary everyday food, just what quantities are recommended per day from each of the four main food groups. Captions further explain the number of servings from each food group and examples of serving sizes. The poster can be used to expand on the information in the pamphlet 'Everyday Eating for Health' code 1333.

Starting Solids
This information leaflet about food for infants gives ideas for solid foods to start giving your baby from aged 4-6 months.
