This is the fourth report in the Decades of Disparity series. It updates the earlier reports by providing estimates of ethnic inequalities and income gradients in mortality for 2001 to 2004.

Tobacco Trends 2006: Monitoring Tobacco Use in New Zealand
Tobacco Trends 2006 adds to and extends the 2005 Tobacco Facts publication, providing estimates of the prevalence of tobacco use in New Zealand. These estimates are broken down by gender, ethnic group, age group, and smoker type are presented where possible.
Te Rau Hinengaro: The New Zealand Mental Health Survey
This report describes for the total New Zealand, Māori, and Pacific populations living in New Zealand the one-month, 12-month, and lifetime prevalence rates of major mental disorders among those aged 16 and over. It provides current epidemiological information about Pacific peoples that has not been previously available.

This Purchasing Strategy for the Pacific Provider Development Fund (PPDF) will guide funding and purchasing decisions for the Ministry of Health and District Health Boards from 1 July 2005 to 30 June 2008. It provides high-level guidance on goals, principles, vision, objectives, Pacific provider definition, administrative roles and funding categories.
Te Orau Ora: Pacific Mental Health Profile
This document published by the Mental Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health is descriptive in nature and contains both demographic and mental health information that will provide an overview of the mental health status of Pacific peoples in New Zealand.
Pacific Patterns in Primary Health Care: A comparison of Pacific and all patient visits to doctors
The National Primary Medical Care survey (NatMedCa) 2001/02 was undertaken to describe primary health care in New Zealand, including the characteristics of providers and their practices, the patients they see, the problems presented and the management offered. This report provides a descriptive report of the weekday, daytime experiences of visits to primary health care doctors for patients of Pacific origin.

Tupu Ola Moui: The Pacific Health Chart Book 2004
The report provides a stocktake of the health needs of the Pacific population. It includes information on health outcomes, health service utilisation, risk factors, socioeconomic determinants of health and demographics. This is the first comprehensive review of Pacific health since the Public Health Commission carried out such an assessment in 1996.
Pacific Health and Disability Workforce Development Plan
The plan provides a framework for health and education organisations to positively influence the pathways for Pacific peoples' participation in the health workforce. It focuses specifically on Pacific health and disability workforce development as part of the Government's strategy to improve health outcomes for Pacific peoples. The Plan fulfils one of the actions from the Pacific Health and Disability Action Plan, 2002.
Living with Disability in New Zealand: A Descriptive Analysis of Results from the 2001 Household Disability Survey and the 2001 Disability Survey of Residential Facilities
This report is the most comprehensive report ever produced on the status of people with disability in New Zealand. It presents information on the nature and extent of disability experienced by Pacific peoples and the socioeconomic circumstances of Pacific peoples with disability.

This occasional bulletin provides evidence of inequality in mortality trends.
National Survey of Pacific Nurses and Nursing Students
This report presents and discusses the results of the National Survey of Pacific nurses and nusing students in New Zealand. The survey aimed to provide trends in the characteristics of particular target groups within the Pacific nursing workforce, including active nurses, non-active nurses, nursing students, nursing educators, and nurse managers.
NZ Food, NZ Children - Pacific
The 2002 National Children's Nutrition Survey was a cross-sectional population survey on a randomly selected sample of children aged between 5 and 14 years of age throughout the country. A total of 1058 Pacific children took part in the survey and this report presents the findings of Pacific children's food and nutrient intake, frequently eaten foods, eating and physical activity patterns, and dental health.
Pacific Health in New Zealand Our Stories
This publication celebrates Pacific health and is dedicated to those Pacific individuals and communities that have contributed to the development of the Pacific health sector. Profiles of some Pacific health sector leaders, successful Pacific health initiatives, and Pacific providers are included to acknowledge their efforts and achievements over the years.

The Pacific Health and Disability Action Plan
The Pacific Health and Disability Action Plan sets out the strategic direction and actions for improving health outcomes for Pacific peoples and reducing inequalities between Pacific and non-Pacific peoples. The Action Plan highlights six priority areas where improvements can be made to health and disability support services for Pacific peoples.
This Plan is currently under review.
Youth Health: A guide to action
This document proposes a plan of action to improve the health of New Zealanders 12 to 24 year olds. It sets out goals, objectives, and specific actions aimed at doing this, including a goal to achieve a measurable improvement in the health of Pacific young people.
Reducing Inequalities in Health
This report identifies a number of principles that should be applied to activities undertaken in the health sector to help to overcome health inequalities.
