Summary
The Ministry of Health is reviewing the display of tobacco products in retail settings, such as dairies, convenience stores, supermarkets and service stations.
The last changes to display requirements were made in 2003 as part of Smoke-free Environments Amendment Act 2003 and as part of New Zealand’s ongoing tobacco control programme it is timely that they be reviewed.
The consultation document seeks feedback on three broad options:
Current requirements with enhanced education and enforcement
Further restrictions
Ban on display
The consultation process is open to anyone and the Ministry encourages anyone that is interested to make a submission. A submission from is included as part of the document.
