Tobacco Control and SmokingConsultation
The Ministry of Health is reviewing the display of tobacco products in retail settings, such as dairies, convenience stores, supermarkets and service stations.
The last changes to display requirements were made in 2003 as part of Smoke-free Environments Amendment Act 2003 and as part of New Zealand’s ongoing tobacco control programme, the Associate Minister of Health Damian O'Conner has asked the Ministry to review them.
Written submissions closed on Friday 15 February 2008.
The Ministry received over 400 submissions and will now carefully consider and analyse them before providing advice to Government later in 2008. The advice will take into account the information contained in the submissions.
