Problem Gambling in New Zealand

In order to better understand the effects problem gambling has on people and their families in our communities, it is important to monitor problem gambling in New Zealand.

In accordance with the Gambling Act 2003, the Ministry of Health is responsible for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling. This role includes funding and co-ordination of national and local problem
gambling services, risk awareness and in-depth research into the burden and extent of harm.
