Summary

Problem Gambling Geography of New Zealand 2005 was prepared by Public Health Intelligence (PHI), the epidemiology group of the Ministry of Health. This report describes where gambling venues and problem gambling counselling services are located in New Zealand. It also examines changes in gambling opportunities and problem gambling counselling provision from 2003 to 2005. This report updates the 2003 Problem Gambling Geography of New Zealand.

Analysis of the locations and numbers of gambling venues and problem gambling service provision is provided by District Health Board, territorial authority and urban area, to give a comprehensive view of the gambling geography of New Zealand.

This publication also includes maps of every District Health Board and territorial authority. These maps show locations of gambling venues and problem gambling counselling services in each area.

Problem Gambling Geography of New Zealand 2005 is part of the Public Health Intelligence (PHI) Monitoring Report series.
