Consumer Recall of Contaminated Products



Medsafe advises that the following products have been withdrawn from the market and have been recalled to consumer level because some units of each product have been found to be contaminated with toxic substances.

The product and recall details are as follows:


Clearasil Sensitive Deep Pore Cleansing Toner 150ml

Scope of Recall: Batch Number 2RR purchased from South Island pharmacies only. Note that bottles of this batch or any other batch purchased from supermarkets or grocery outlets anywhere in New Zealand or from pharmacies in the North Island are not being recalled.

Effective from: 6 May 2004


Blis K12 Throat Guard, Strawberry and Vanilla flavours (tablet and mouthwash combined pack)

Scope of recall: All batches (includes batch numbers: 2367, 2368, 2436, 2437, 3322, 3324) purchased from South Island pharmacies and from pharmacies in Wellington, Porirua and the Hutt Valley. (Note that the batch number in question is the number printed on the Blis tablets box and tablets bottle, not the one printed on the mouthwash bottle)

Effective from: 6 May 2004


Hamilton Narium Natural Mist Nasal Spray 25ml And Hamilton Narium Nasal Drops 25ml

Scope of recall: Batch numbers 66 to 76 inclusive purchased from any outlet throughout New Zealand.

Effective from: 23 April 2004


Summer's Eve Cleansing Wash 237ml And Summer's Eve Intimate Cleansing Mist 118ml Spray

Scope of recall: All product purchased from pharmacies since March 2002.

Effective from: 23 April 2004

Consumers who have purchased any of the affected products should return these to the point of sale for a refund. Anyone who has used a product and been adversely affected by it should consult a medical practitioner and also inform Christchurch Police of the matter.
