You need to choose a lead maternity carer who will be responsible for providing and co-ordinating your maternity care, developing your care plan with you, and attending your labour and birth.

Choosing a Lead Maternity Carer (LMC)

A lead maternity carer can be a midwife (independent or hospital based), a general practitioner, an obstetrician or a hospital team. The choice you have will depend to some extent on where you live, as the full range of options is not available in every area.
