Accountability: A better way of working together
Report of the DHB Accountability Arrangements Review
Date of publication: October 2007
Summary
The document provides a summary of the DHB Accountability Arrangements Review.
Since they were established, District Health Boards (DHBs) have evolved and matured. The Ministry of Health has also moved forward and is working in new ways to support the health sector in improving performance.
The review sought to respond to concerns about the appropriateness and effectiveness of the DHB accountability arrangements.
As a result of the agreed changes to the arrangements, stakeholders should see:
- a more streamlined and simplified accountability process
- more clearly articulated expectations about what matters most
- the relative importance of an area reflected in the weight of reporting
- stronger Ministry/DHB working relationships and better ways of working
