Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM)


The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine is a global doctors only organisation set up to support breastfeeding and provide up to date, evidence based protocols for mastitis, and the use of galactogogues amongst other topics.

Joining gives a doctor the Journal of Breastfeeding Medicine and the ABM newsletter.

The benefits of membership are:

Eligibility requirements:

  • MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy.
  • A current license to practice medicine or dentistry in one's state or country.
  • Physicians-in-training (residents, fellows, and medical students) - physicians-in-training are non-voting members.

Breastfeeding Medicine journal


Breastfeeding Medicine is a quarterly peer-reviewed medical journal enables physicians to better understand all the complexities and benefits of breastfeeding.

Edited by MDs, and a prestigious international Editorial Board, it focuses on all medical aspects pertaining to breastfeeding which concern both mother and child.

It publishes original scientific papers, reviews and case studies on a wide spectrum of topics in lactation medicine.

Coverage includes:
