Summary

The Ministry has identified the need for a collaborative prescribing policy for New Zealand. Before this policy may be developed, the Medicines Act (the Act) must be enabled to allow the Minister of Health to make regulation.

An opportunity to enable the Act has presented itself through the update of the Act through the Therapeutic Products and Medicines Bill (the Bill). This document seeks views on the proposal to enable the Act through a Supplementary Order Paper, on the Bill, to the House, at the time of the Committee of the Whole House.
