About us


What we do


Planning and managing the purchase of post-entry clinical training for New Zealand health professionals is the CTA’s core business. However, the CTA also has a strong role in leading and supporting workforce development across the health and disability sector. The CTA has been at the hub of several workforce developments across the health and disability sector.


What is Post-Entry Clinical Training (PECT)?


PECT is defined as:

‘Post-Entry occurs after entry to a health profession, so that a person is eligible to practise as a health practitioner under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 and

Clinical is clinically focussed with the trainee spending at least 30 percent of total programme related hours in the direct delivery of health and disability Services to service users, and

Training is a programme equivalent to a minimum duration of at least six full time months that leads to a nationally recognised qualification.’
