DHB Hospital Benchmark InformationReport for the Quarter April - June 2009
Date of publication (online): September 2009
The Hospital Benchmark Information reports are published quarterly to report on data supplied by the hospital services in District Health Boards (DHBs).
Summary
The benchmarking report is intended as a mechanism to allow DHBs to see how they rate compared to each other and to use as a prompt for learning from higher performing DHBs. Our direct communications approach reflects that goal. Results of the latest quarterly report will be sent directly to each of the DHBs showing their results and how they compare with other DHBs.
The slight deterioration in the performance of one indicator of public interest (management of triage 1 patients in ED) is due to an administrative issue at Canterbury DHB (incorrect coding) and the disproportionate statistical effect of very small numbers (at Whanganui DHB - not meeting the benchmark for just one patient meant a drop in their reporting average by 17%).
