External Implementation Reference Group for the Disability Services Strategy

This is an update on the work of the External Implementation Reference Group for the Disability Services Strategy (‘the Reference Group’).

What is the Reference Group?

The Reference Group is a group of service providers and consumers from the disability sector, including non-government organisations and government agencies.

The purpose of the group is to provide information and advice that will inform, support and guide the implementation of the Disability Services strategic plan for services for people with disabilities, their families and whanau.

What has happened so far?

The Reference Group has met three times; in October and November 2008 and again in March 2009. Work to date includes:
  • completing the terms of reference for the Reference Group
  • completing a communications plan
  • aligning the priorities of consumers, the disability sector and government
  • prioritising the action points of the DSS strategic plan to reflect the priorities
  • establishing an issues/risk register to record concerns from the sector and the Reference Group

For more information about the Reference Group please contact Alison Hearn, at the Ministry of Health (Alison_Hearn@moh.govt.nz).
