Drug Use in New Zealand: Analysis of the 2003 Health Behaviours Survey – Drug Use presents the results from a survey about recreational drug use in the New Zealand population, carried out in 2003.

This report provides information on patterns of recreational drug use among New Zealanders. In particular, this report focuses on the use of cannabis, amphetamines and ecstasy, as well as harms caused drug use. Differences in drug use between males and females, Maori and non-Maori and across age groups are reported.

This report shows that among people aged 13–65 years in New Zealand:

Over one in eight (13.7%) had used cannabis in the last 12 months
2.5% had used amphetamines in the last 12 months
1.9% had used ecstasy in the last 12 months.
