Immunisation coverage for New Zealand children at 24 months of age is 87% for the 3 month period ending June 2010. Immunisation coverage is measured at ‘milestone ages’. The milestone ages are 6 months, 12 months (1 year), 18 months, 24 months (2 years), 5 years and 12 years of age. The National Immunisation Register (NIR) was rolled out in District Health Boards (DHBs) throughout 2005, so data is only available for the 6 month, 12 month, 18 month, 24 month and 5 year milestone ages. The following table shows the immunisation coverage for children who turned the milestone age during a 3 month and 12 month reporting period ending June 2010, and who have completed their age appropriate immunisations.
