Reportable Events

The requirements for reporting undesired events that occur within DHBs is changing. From 1 July 2009 DHBs will report adverse events to a national centralised repository within five days of the event occurring.

The anonymous data will be used to take a coordinated national approach to the monitoring, analysis, and reporting of trends in incidents. It will also be shared with the health sector to identify the lessons learned in managing incidents, mitigating their consequences, and reducing the risk of future events.

To find out more please see the Question and Answers or the Resources sections.
