Information for education providers and parents

The Ministry of Education website has information for early childhood education services, schools, tertiary organisations, education agencies, students, parents and other interested stakeholders:

Parents

Should your child go to school?

If your child is sick or displaying symptoms of the flu, you should keep them at home for seven days after their symptoms begin or until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer.

Parents and caregivers should monitor their school-aged children carefully.

Prepare for school and early childhood education service closure

Health authorities appreciate that closing schools and early childhood education services will cause problems for families where both parents or caregivers are working. For that reason, any decision to close will not be taken lightly.

Parents or caregivers who both work will need to make arrangements for the care and supervision of their children if closure does occur.
