Influenza A (H1N1) Swine Flu

Travel health

The New Zealand Government does not have any restrictions on travel to New Zealand at present. All New Zealand international airports are open and operating normally and there have been no cancellations of international services into New Zealand as a result of the influenza pandemic.

Before the aircraft lands cabin crew read information to passengers on all incoming flights. This includes signs and symptoms of influenza and what to do if you are unwell. If symptoms of influenza develop while you are travelling, advice is available from airport-based health staff on arrival in New Zealand, on the need for any further medical care.

Passengers will also be given written information about the new influenza A (H1N1) virus, what to do if you get sick and how to protect yourself and care for someone who is unwell.

Public health staff are present at Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown international airports. They are positioned after the arrivals gate in the area where the public can meet arriving travellers.

View more information, including the latest Travel health notice handed out at airports, on the Information for travellers page.
