On 6 August 2009 the Minister of Health announced the disestablishment of the Medical Training Board and the establishment of the Clinical Training Agency Board. The functions of the Medical Training Board will be amalgamated with the functions of the Clinical Training Agency Board.

In September 2008 the Medical Training Board (MTB) released a series of documents on the medical workforce and on the need to achieve integration and coordination in medical education and training. This report takes into account the feedback received on these documents and progresses the work to the next level.

31 Mar 2009: Medical Training Board: The Future of the Medical Workforce: First Annual Report Nov 2007-Dec 2008
The Medical Training Board's Annual Report for 2008 identifies the influences on demand for health services and proposes a model for forecasting future medical workforce needs.

26 Mar 2009: Dr Andrew Old was appointed to the Medical Training Board on 16 March 2009.

25 Feb 2009: Dr Cindy Towns has resigned from the Medical Training Board, effective from 4 February 2009.
