Ministry of Health announces change to Hawke’s Bay review team
Director-General of Health Stephen McKernan has announced a change to the review team that is examining the handling of conflicts of interest at Hawke’s Bay District Health Board (DHB).
Ian Wilson will now lead the review team. Mr Wilson is stepping in for Syd Bradley, who informed the Director-General of his need to stand aside from the review due to changing personal circumstances. Mr Wilson will be assisted by Michael Wigley and David Clarke, who continue their roles on the review team.
An experienced governance practitioner, Mr Wilson currently chairs MidCentral DHB. He has also chaired Waikato DHB and has been a member of the Whanganui DHB board.
Mr Wilson has also served in other governance capacities in the health sector, including as a member of the Health Workforce Advisory Committee and Ministry of Health’s National Capital Committee.
Mr Wilson currently chairs the Institute of Environmental Science and Research Ltd (also known as ESR) and is on the board of Learning Media Ltd.

What is the review about?
The Minister of Health has asked the Director-General of Health to conduct an independent review of the recent allegations of conflicts of interest at the Hawke's Bay District Health Board (DHB) and the management of those conflicts of interest by Mr Peter Hausmann and the Hawke’s Bay DHB board.
Who will the review team report to?
The review panel is to report their findings to the Director-General of Health.
