Purpose

The purpose of the Pacific Health Workforce Awards is to contribute to the development of a tertiary qualified Pacific health workforce by supporting:
  • The workforce training needs of Pacific health providers and
  • Students to undertake a health related course of study.

Funding

These awards are funded by the Pacific Provider Development Fund (PPDF) and are administered by the Health Research Council of New Zealand (HRC) on behalf of the Ministry of Health.

Who can apply

Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident and eligible to undertake study in a New Zealand tertiary education organisation. Only students who are undertaking health, or health management, related tertiary study are eligible to apply.

Note: Employees of District Health Boards are not eligible to apply.

Value of awards

The value of the awards is up to $10,000 and is for one year only. The awards will cover course fees (up to the value of $7500), general expenses ($1500) and a mentoring stipend ($1000). The amount awarded will vary and will be based on the actual cost of the course and related requirements.
