Performance Payments

The PHO Performance Programme aims to improve the health of enrolled populations and reduce disparities in health outcomes through supporting clinical governance and continuous quality improvement processes within PHOs.

The first performance period commenced 1 January 2006 with 29 PHOs participating. PHOs are able to enter the programme at six monthly intervals, once they have met the programme prerequisites.

PHOs are eligible to receive payments as they improve their performance on indicators against targets. Payments are made every 6 months for most indicators (flu vaccination and achievement of PHO performance plan objectives are annual). Payments for the majority of indicators will be made on the basis of percentage attainment of the target. The maximum available payment is $6.16 (GST inclusive) per annum per enrolled member, if all targets are achieved.
