Implementation Work Programme 2006 - 2010

The Primary Health Care Strategy Implementation Work Programme 2006 - 2010 is the next phase of work on the implementation of the Primary Health Care Strategy. It focuses on reducing inequalities, engaging communities, and the management of chronic conditions.

Toward 2010, the programme is focused on achieving five key goals:
  • Informed communities
  • Primary health care actively working towards reducing inequalities
  • Enhanced delivery
  • Capability development, and
  • Shared ownership and responsibility for the primary health care system and outcomes.

To meet these goals, four workstreams have been established:
  1. Funding and accountability
  2. Service development
  3. Infrastructure and Sector development
  4. Change management.
