Physical Activity

Physical activity and nutrition

For maximum health benefit, it is recommended that individuals combine an active lifestyle with healthy eating.

Because of the obvious links between, and the importance of, nutrition, physical activity and obesity, the Ministry of Health has developed Healthy Eating – Healthy Action, Oranga Kai - Oranga Pumau, a strategy to address these three factors together.

A background document provides supporting information and evidence for the strategy and an implementation plan has recently been released.

Food and nutrition – guidelines, important health information and links to health conditions can be found in the Ministry of Health Food and Nutrition Guidelines series. The series also include a summary of physical activity.
