Programme for the Integration of Mental Health Data

PRIMHD for DHBs

What DHB provider arm data is captured?

PRIMHD captures data, provided by contributing DHBs and NGOs since 1 July 2008, which describes who receives what services from whom. (This was previously captured by MHINC - Mental Health Information National Collection)

  • The DHB data collected includes: dates of referrals to and discharges from services, service activity (including ECT, seclusion and leave data), provider team, demographic information (eg gender, date of birth, ethnicity) and DHB information on legal status and diagnosis
PRIMHD captures DHB outcomes data in the form of HoNOS - Health of the Nation Outcome Scales. (This data is sourced from the DHB’s system application for MH-SMART - Mental Health Standard Measures of Assessment and Recovery initiative)

PRIMHD integrates legacy MHINC data ie referrals, discharges, service activities, legal status and diagnosis data provided by DHBs to MHINC from 2000-2008.

PRIMHD does not capture the following data:
  • information on primary mental health services provided by general practitioners (ie GPs) or Primary Health Organisations (PHOs)
  • MH-SMART legacy data captured from DHBs between 2005-2008.
