Services - National Coordination

Service description

The Ministry of Health funds a National Coordination Service (NCS) to support intervention and public health service providers. The coordination service works closely with and under the guidance of the Ministry and workforce development providers to:

support the provision of dedicated Māori, dedicated Pacific and general problem gambling services
maintain an awareness of any new emergent issues or trends that may impact on the problem gambling sector
improve communication and co-ordination among agencies involved in preventing and minimising gambling-related harm
encourage informed public debate and support for initiatives to prevent and minimise gambling harm
align national, regional and local activities to ensure they complement each other and support the Ministry’s Strategic Plan
facilitate collaboration among service providers involved in preventing and minimising gambling-related harm, to minimise provider isolation and achieve nationally consistent service delivery
recognise the needs of the providers, and work with the Ministry to develop a programme for responding to these needs, to build and improve capacity across the sector
facilitate and support specified workforce development activities in conjunction with the Ministry and problem gambling workforce development provider/s
establish strong communication links with the Ministry, and other stakeholders within the problem gambling sector.
