Register of Recognised Laboratories Drinking Water Supplies

Summary of publication

Section 69ZY of the Health Act 1956 (as inserted by section 7 of the Health (Drinking Water) Amendment Act 2008) requires the Director General of Health to maintain a register of recognised laboratories, and identifies the particulars that must be recorded in the register.

The Register provides easily accessible information about the laboratories that have been assessed by IANZ and found to comply with either NZS/ISO/IEC 17025:1999 or the Ministry of Health Level 2 Criteria analytical laboratories.

The current register can be viewed on the Drinking Water for New Zealand website - Ministry of Health Recognised Laboratories

As with previous editions, this Register is generated from the Water Information New Zealand (WINZ) National Database. It includes information available to the Ministry of Health about laboratories that have demonstrated compliance with Ministry of Health criteria for the testing of drinking-water supplies to confirm compliance with the Drinking-Water Standards for New Zealand 2005 (Revised 2008).
