Appointments to Health Statutory Bodies

Vacancies and Appointments


Candidates interested in applying for appointment to a health statutory body should be familiar with the legislation relevant to the body they are interested in. Candidates should also read and understand the applicable terms of reference or candidate information to ensure they are aware of the workload and requirements for members.

Interested individuals and organisations are also invited to nominate potential candidates for consideration by writing a letter of support to the address below.

All candidates who wish to be considered (or have been nominated) must complete an application form and provide a current curriculum vitae by the dates specified for each committee to:

The Ministry of Health is currently seeking candidates, on behalf of the Minister of Health, for appointments to the statutory bodies listed below:
  • Advisory Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ACART)
  • Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal
  • Physiotherapy Board
  • Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board
  • Chiropractic Board


Pursuant to section 32 of the Human Assisted Reproductive Technology Act 2004

Advisory Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology (ACART)


Vacancies will arise in mid 2010 for six members:
  • One member who is an expert in assisted reproductive procedures
  • One member with the ability to articulate issues from a disability perspective
  • One member with the ability to articulate the interests of children (this member must be a representative or employee of the Children’s Commissioner)
  • One member with the ability to articulate issues from the perspective of a consumer of assisted reproductive procedures
  • Two members with expertise in Maori customary values and the ability to articulate issues from a Maori perspective

The expected workload for ACART members is high, involving monthly meetings, substantial reading, and phone and email communication between meetings.

Physiotherapy Board


Vacancies that will arise in mid 2010 are for one lay member and three health practitioners.

Candidates applying for the health practitioner positions need to be registered physiotherapists.
