Perioperative Mortality Review Committee (POMRC)

The Perinatal and Maternal Mortality Review Committee is a ministerial committee appointed under sections 11 and 18 of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000.

Functions
  1. review and report to the Minister on deaths that are within the Committee’s Scope, with a view to reducing these deaths and to continuous quality improvement through the promotion of ongoing quality assurance programmes
  2. advise on any other matter related to mortality that the Minister specifies in writing
  3. develop strategic plans and methodologies that are designed to reduce morbidity and mortality and are relevant to the Committee’s functions.
