What are Dental Subsidies?

The Dental subsidies are available to Dentists who have provided services to children under the age of 18.

What is the decile score for a school in my area?

To see the most up to date information on decile scores for a school in your area, visit the Ministry of Education website (www.minedu.govt.nz)

This patient does not have a decile score - what rate should I claim them at?

If the patient is being home schooled, is at correspondence school, at polytech, is unemployed or is working, use the middle range (decile 4-6) rates.

What is included in the capitation/purchase unit?

  1. Consultations - including examination, prophylaxis, advice on dental care and any special tests and bitewing radiographs considered necessary. This includes both regular consultations as necessary including six-monthly consultations and any necessary emergency consultations in normal hours.
  2. All necessary one surface fillings in posterior teeth.
  3. Periapical x-rays where required.
  4. Fissure sealants where required.
  5. Other preventative treatments (eg topical fluoride applications) where required.
  6. Chairside education on oral health care.

What happens if I treat the patients of another dentist?

If it is an emergency then this can be claimed under special dental.

Do I need to get my existing patients to fill in the new enrolment forms?

All patients need to complete the new enrolment forms as they come in for their next consultation. If Sector Services have already received an enrollment form signed by the patient's parents then it is not necessary to have the parents sign the new form.

Claim forms are available free from Wickliffe Press on 0800 259 138 - you will need to provide your payee number at hand.
