Artificial Eyes Subsidy


What is the Artificial Eyes Service Payment?

This service is paid to a supplier when a patient has had an eye removed, (the first artificial eye is included in the cost of the surgery). Therefore the provision of the first artificial eye is the responsibility of the hospital at which the procedure was performed and is not eligible for claiming under the subsidy for artificial eyes.

Who can claim this service payment?

The subsidy is claimable by the supplier of the artificial eye only.

How much can I claim?

Age GroupSubsidyOther conditions
Under 6 yearsFull cost of the replacement ( Approx, $1000Not accrued, payable up to once every 2 years
Children 6-17 yearsFull cost of the replacement(Approx $1000Not accrued, payable up to once every 3 years
Adults 18 years and over$150 a yearAccrued annually from the time of the loss of the eye

How do I claim?

Claims should be made to Sector Services by the supplier, and accompanied by supporting receipts.

When will my claims be paid?

Payment will be made within 20 business days of receiving a valid claim.
