What is Mum2Be?
Where can I source a copy of the “Your Pregnancy” booklet?

How do I contact Sector Services?

What is Mum2Be?
The 0800 Mum2Be (0800 686 223) maternity consumer line provides women with contact details for Lead Maternity Carers in their area

Calls are answered by Contact Centre staff Monday to Friday from 8am through to 5pm. The exception is Wednesday when the Contact Centre’s hours are 9.30am to 5pm.

When you call into Mum2Be, we will take your name and address details and send you out a list of Lead Maternity Carers in your area. We do not operate an email or fax service.

Where can I source a copy of the “Your Pregnancy” booklet?
Please contact your District Health Board Health Education Resources Department, they have these booklets. Alternatively you are able to download one from the internet:

I have received your list of names however none of the midwives on the list are available, what shall I do?
Please contact the maternity services department at your local hospital.

I’m a visitor to New Zealand – am I eligible for free maternity care?

Who do I talk to about antenatal classes?
You can either ask your midwife or contact your local District Health Board.

I’m not happy with the midwife I have – what can I do?
You can lay a complaint with the Health and Disability Commissioner (phone 0800 112 233) or you can speak to the NZ College of Midwives (03 377 2732).

We are struggling financially – can we get help?
Please contact Work and Income NZ on 0800 559 009, they will be able to assist you with this enquiry.

Am I able to eat cheese, I have a craving for it?
For further information call Healthline on 0800 611 116.

I live in the Wellington central area and am unable to find a midwife. Who can I contact?
Please contact MATpro on 04 801 0305 and they will help you find a Lead Maternity Carer.

I’m having triplets! Who can I talk to?
Contact NZ Multiple Birth Society on 0800 489 467.

Contact the Department of Labour on 0800 20 90 20.

I’m pregnant and don’t know whether I want the baby. Who can I talk to?
Pregnancy Counselling Services are the people to talk to. They are available 24 hours a day on 0800 PREGNANT (0800 733 462).
