Proposed Amendments to the Medicines Regulations 1984 - A Consultation Document

Introduction
The Ministry of Health is considering a number amendments to the Medicines Regulations 1984 (‘the Regulations’) to reflect current circumstances and practice. The Regulations are made pursuant to the Medicines Act 1981 which relates to the manufacture, sale and supply of medicines, medical devices, and related products.

Section 105(1) of the Medicines Act provides that:

The Governor-General may from time to time, by Order in Council made on the advice of the Minister tendered after consultation with such organisations or bodies as appear to the Minister to be representative of persons likely to be substantially affected by the regulation, make regulations …

The purpose of this report is to provide interested parties with an opportunity to comment on proposed amendments to the Regulations, prior to the Ministry seeking approval from the Minister of Health to proceed with changes.
