The Government's Medium-Term Strategy for Health and Disability Support Services 1999 is released by the Minister of Health. It outlines a common strategic direction for health and the broad policy settings within which all health system agencies will be operating over the next three to five years. The strategic direction is also reflected in the annual expectations released by the Minister of Health for the Health Funding Authority (the Crown Statement of Objectives) and the publicly-owned Hospital and Health Services (the Statement of Shareholders' Expectations).
