Advice to the Incoming Minister of Health: Background Briefing Papers
This report briefs an incoming Minister of Health on a range of issues that are of immediate relevance in the health portfolio.
The range of papers included cover key aspects of the health and disability sector (for example, the population-based funding formula), important strategic areas (for example, the primary health care strategy, Māori health strategy), and significant health service areas (for example, the national screening programmes and reducing waiting times for elective services).
The papers are intended to provide the Minister and Associate Ministers with concise information that summarise a wide variety of material on key subject areas.
The Ministry will be providing more detailed briefings on aspects of the material covered in due course, but it is hoped that this information will provide a useful background for Ministers and their staff on important areas of the health and disability portfolio over the next three to six months.
