Health Technologist and Technician Training in New Zealand
Date of Publication: December 2002
Improvements in technology mean constant change in the way health services are provided. Health technicians and technologists are becoming a core part of the New Zealand health system, and with changes proposed such as the Health Practitioners' Competence Assurance Bill, identification of the professions and the issues they face, is vital.
This report identifies some of the health technician and technologist professions, and current key issues associated with workforce development and training.
Initial findings from the report were used to inform the Clinical Training Agency Strategic Intentions, and the full report is presented here to assist other groups in the health sector.
