Towards a Cancer Control Strategy for New Zealand - Marihi Tauporo

Discussion Document Submission Analysis

Date of publication: January 2004

HP 3658

The draft strategic discussion document, Towards a Cancer Control Strategy for New Zealand Marihi Tauporo, was launched on 5 December 2002 and was subsequently distributed by the Ministry of Health for consultation purposes.

The primary aim of the discussion document was to open discussion and seek feedback from cancer service providers, other stakeholders and the New Zealand public on the strategic direction and objectives and actions proposed for a strategy to control cancer in New Zealand.

The Cancer Control Steering Group, established by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the New Zealand Cancer Control Trust, developed the discussion document. The document was subsequently distributed to key stakeholders who were invited to make submissions by 14 March 2003.

This submission analysis presents the key themes that emerged from the written and oral submissions received by the Ministry of Health during the consultation period.
