Date of publication: August 2003

HP 3784

The Ministry of Health’s Disability Services Directorate (DSD) has developed a three-year Strategic Plan for the period July 2003 to June 2006. This plan sets out the priorities in strategic direction for the Directorate and a framework for establishing annual plans.

Included in the Strategic Plan is DSD’s Vision that sets the goal ahead, that of disability support services enabling inclusion and valuing disabled people. This vision evolved from the New Zealand Disability Strategy, which aims for a fully inclusive society.

The Vision commits the Directorate and its staff to strive to get the best range and mix of services that achieves the best outcomes for disabled people and their families and whänau within available funding.

Six objectives establish major priorities for development over the next three years with strategies that will be used to achieve each of these objectives.

The structure of the Strategic Plan provides a framework for the Directorate’s Annual Plans for the next three years.
