Selected Health Professional Workforce in New Zealand 2002
A New Zealand Health Information Service (NZHIS) publication

The New Zealand Health Information Service has maintained the New Zealand selected health professional workforce data collection since 1995.

This publication contains data about the active selected health professional workforce in New Zealand in both the public and private sectors who were sent invoices for an Annual Practising Certificate or an Annual Licence in February 2002. The data was obtained by means of a questionnaire which accompanied the invoice for each Certificate or Licence.

The professions included are:
  • optometrists
  • dispensing opticians
  • chiropractors
  • dietitians
  • medical laboratory technologists
  • medical radiation technologists
  • occupational therapists
  • podiatrists
  • physiotherapists, and
  • registered psychologists.
Data presented for each profession consists of numbers, age, sex distribution, ethnicity, employment setting, work type, country of qualification, and number of hours worked.
