On 1 July 2004, the Ministry of Health assumed responsibility for the funding and coordination of problem gambling services. The Ministry, in meeting the requirements of the Gambling Act 2003 and to ensure the proposed approach reflected the needs, priorities and realities of all New Zealanders, prepared and consulted on an integrated strategy to prevent and minimise gambling harm. The draft consultation document includes:
  1. Strategic Plan for Preventing and Minimising Gambling Harm: 2004–2010
  2. Needs Assessment
  3. Proposed Three-Year Funding Plan
  4. Proposed Problem Gambling Levy Rates

The Ministry of Health has now completed consultation on the integrated strategy. A Summary of Submissions document, which summarises the issues raised during consultation on the integrated strategy is available.

You can download the Summary of Submissions from this website. The finalised strategy will be published when it has been approved by Cabinet.
